Alerts only for your vehicles

A camera facing the street sees every car that passes. CarGo learns which vehicles are yours and only tells you about them.

Your vehicles, not the whole street

You get an alert when one of your vehicles arrives or leaves. Neighbors' cars, delivery traffic and passing cars do not trigger alerts.

A clip for every vehicle

Every vehicle CarGo sees appears in your Sightings list with a short clip, the camera and the time, so you can review it yourself.

Tap Mine to teach CarGo

When one of your vehicles appears in Sightings, tap Mine. Each tap teaches CarGo more about how that vehicle looks on your cameras.

Four ways to teach CarGo a vehicle

Add a vehicle in the app and choose the method that works for you. You can use more than one.

Pick it from a clip

Tell CarGo roughly when your vehicle passed and which camera saw it. CarGo shows you the vehicles in the clip so you can choose yours.

Search the last 7 days

CarGo searches the last 7 days of clips from your cameras and shows you the vehicles it found. Select yours from the results.

Share from the Ring app

On Android, open a clip in the Ring app, tap Share and choose CarGo. CarGo shows the vehicles in the video so you can confirm yours.

Learn as you go

Skip setup and tap Mine when your vehicle appears in Sightings. CarGo learns from each tap.

Alerts on your phone

Alerts arrive as notifications on your phone. CarGo is a web app, so there is nothing to download from an app store.

On iPhone and iPad, open CarGo in Safari and use Add to Home Screen. On Android, install it from Chrome. The setup guide explains each step.

Email is optional. You can receive an email for every alert or one daily summary.

Designed with privacy in mind

  • No video is stored. A motion clip is downloaded, checked for vehicles and deleted within minutes. Your account keeps a cropped still of each vehicle, along with the time and direction.
  • License plates and faces are blurred in those stills before they are stored or shown. Automatic blurring can miss, so you can delete any still.
  • Your data stays in your account. We never sell it or use it to train anything for other customers. You can delete any alert or your entire account at any time.
  • CarGo does not read license plates. It recognizes vehicles by their overall appearance, including shape, color and trim.

Questions

Do I need to download an app?
No. CarGo is a web app that you open in your browser and add to your home screen. It is coming to the Appstore in the Ring app, where you will turn it on for your cameras.
Does CarGo read my license plate?
No. CarGo recognizes vehicles by their overall appearance, including shape, color and trim, much as you would recognize them from across the street. License plates that CarGo detects are blurred in the stills it keeps.
What about neighbors' cars and people?
Other cars are used only within your account as examples of vehicles that are not yours. Each still is cropped to the vehicle, and faces that CarGo detects are blurred. Blurring can miss, so you can delete any still.
Which cameras work?
Ring cameras that record motion clips work with CarGo. This requires a Ring subscription because, without one, Ring keeps no clips for CarGo to check.
Can it miss my car or alert on the wrong one?
Sometimes, especially during the first few days. Every Mine tap improves the next decision. CarGo is a convenience, not a security or safety system, and you should not rely on it for either.
How do I get the best results?
The biggest differences come from placing the camera close to where vehicles pass, having good light and making a few Mine taps during the first week. The Help page covers camera placement and the settings that matter in the Ring app.

CarGo is priced per camera and billed monthly through the Appstore in the Ring app. See Pricing for available plans.
How do I stop it or delete my data?
Turn off notifications, remove CarGo in the Ring app, or email support@cargohold.io. We will delete everything we hold for you.
