Privacy Policy

CarGo tells you when your own vehicles arrive at or leave your home, using motion clips from your Ring camera. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, who else touches it, and how to make us delete it. It is written to be read.

1. What we collect

Motion clips from your camera	Analyzed on our servers to find vehicles.	Minutes. A clip is deleted as soon as it has been analyzed. We do not keep video.
Vehicle stills: a small cropped image of each detected vehicle, with license plates and faces blurred before storage; plus time, direction of travel, a similarity score, and the label CarGo guessed	To show you the alert and let you confirm or correct it.	While your account exists, or until you delete the alert.
Your votes ("mine" / "not mine") and the stills you confirmed	To teach CarGo what your vehicles look like. Used only for your account.	While your account exists.
Notification subscription: the push endpoint your browser gives us	To deliver alerts to your phone.	Until you turn notifications off or it expires.

2. What we do not do

• We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not show ads.
• We do not identify, track, or build profiles of other people or their vehicles. Other cars in your clips are used only as "not yours" examples inside your own account, and faces are blurred.
• We do not read license plates. Recognition is by overall appearance; plates are blurred in every still we keep.
• We do not use your images to train models for other customers.

3. Who else handles your data

Only these, each for one purpose:

• Ring / Amazon — the source of your motion clips, under your Ring account and Ring's own privacy policy.
• Cloudflare — hosts CarGo and stores your account data (United States).
• DeepInfra — runs a second AI check of a detected vehicle's make and model. It receives only the blurred still, not your identity or location.
• Google and Apple push services — carry notifications to your phone. Notification contents are encrypted end to end; they cannot read them.
• Resend — sends sign-in links and, if enabled, alert emails.

We will update this list before adding anyone to it. We do not share data with anyone else, except if the law requires it.

4. Your choices and rights

• Stop alerts: turn off notifications on your phone or in the app.
• Disconnect Ring: remove CarGo's access in your Ring account, or ask us; we then delete your tokens.
• Delete a still or alert: any time, in the app or by asking us.
• Delete everything: email support@cargohold.io from your account address. We delete your account and its data within 30 days and confirm.
• See what we hold: ask, and we send you a copy.

If you are in California, the rights above cover what the CCPA gives you; we do not sell or share personal information for advertising. If you are in the EU or UK, the same rights apply under the GDPR and our legal basis is performing the service you asked for.

5. Security

Everything travels over HTTPS. Access is by signed-in session or a private key you control; credentials and tokens are stored as encrypted secrets with our hosting provider; we keep as little data as the service needs. No system is perfectly secure — if we learn of a breach affecting you we will tell you promptly.

6. Children

CarGo is for adults managing their own household cameras. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

7. Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will note it here with a new date and, for significant changes, email you first.
